Liburn Jupolli

Composer, pianist and instrument inventor from Prishtina. Jupolli writes everything from theatre scores to microtonal chamber pieces, often for instruments he built himself — the Nematocera, a 67-string electric koto, and the Stragonaal, an array of struck and bowed metal bowls. He helped set up Kosovo's first modern-music faculty at UBT, and carries a discography dozens of releases deep. Live, the research melts away and what's left is texture — sets that sit somewhere between club night and séance.
