Prishtina
Elida
The local verdictmust-visit
Everyday cafe for coffee and a quick stop

Elida is technically an ice cream shop, though stopping at that would undersell the institution.
Housed inside Pallati i Rinisë, Prishtina's first shopping centre, it became a see-and-be-seen address for the city's fashionable youth, intellectuals and Prishtina's elite during the 1980s. It's such an iconic piece of Prishtina lore that the Ministry of Culture actually placed it on the list of temporarily protected heritage in 2017.
The interior is unapologetically retro and almost entirely frozen in time, with the same furniture and fittings it had on opening day.
Its glory days may be behind it, but Elida is still serving ice cream, their famous old-school cakes (krempite, indianka, trileqe) and lemonade with admirable continuity. Come for the best scoop in town and a direct encounter with a piece of Prishtina social history.
