La Rremë
23 – 24 October 2026 · Red Hall of the Palace of Youth, National Theatre, Barabar Centre and Menza Ramiz Sadiku
A new international theatre festival from the National Theatre of Kosovo, named for Muharrem Qena. The zero edition is two days: Mario Banushi's Taverna Mirësia on both nights, a masterclass, a talk and a closing concert.
Skip to the day-by-day programme ↓La Rremë was the nickname of Muharrem Qena, one of the most influential figures in the history of theatre in Kosovo, and it is now the name of a new international theatre festival co-organised with the National Theatre of Kosovo. The zero edition is two days, 23 and 24 October, and the organisers call it the start of a long-term plan to make Prishtina a meeting point for theatre makers from the region and beyond.
The centrepiece is Taverna Mirësia – Mario, Bella, Anastasia by Mario Banushi, winner of the Silver Lion for theatre at this year's Venice Biennale: a wordless seventy-minute piece built from his family's mourning after his father's death, in the Red Hall of the Palace of Youth at 19:30 on both nights. Friday is already fully reserved and Saturday's seats go by text message, two per person. Saturday also brings Dino Mustafić's masterclass at the National Theatre, a talk at the Barabar Centre and a closing concert by Ibadete Ramadani & Band at Menza Ramiz Sadiku.
